Three Champions Named to Can-Am League All-Star Team
Ottawa, ON – The Can-Am League has announced its 22 man roster for 2017 Can-Am League vs. American Association All-Star Game and the Ottawa Champions are excited to announce that three members of the team have been named to the team.
C DANNY GRAUER was voted in as the starting catcher while RHP PHILLIPPE AUMONT and RHP DANIEL CORDERO were named to the pitching staff by manager Hal Lanier.
GRAUER, 24, is in his third season with the Champions and is currently batting .313 with five homeruns and 25 RBI in 39 games.
The Chesapeake, VA native has solidified himself as one of the top catchers in the league, and a 4-for-5, two homer, six RBI performance against the Rockland Boulders in late June showed just how valuable he has been.
AUMONT, 28, joined the Champions in early June and has been a steadying influence on the pitching staff, going 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 37.2 innings pitched.
The highlight of the Gatineau, QC native’s season so far is a no-hitter against the Dominican Republic team on June 28th where he struck out 11 and walked only one.
CORDERO, 24, makes his second straight All-Star appearance after being named to the South team in 2016 in St. Paul.
After a slow start to the season, the Barinas, Venezuela native has really turned it on and now has a 4-3 record with a 3.73 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched.
