Champions Acquire Infielder Nyisztor from Sussex County

Ottawa, ON – The OTTAWA CHAMPIONS have acquired 2B STEVE NYISZTOR from the SUSSEX COUNTY MINERS in exchange for OF ADRON CHAMBERS.

NYISZTOR, 26, played in 11 games for the Miners in 2017, slashing .281/.343/.344 with three RBI in 32 at-bats.

The Toms Rivers, NJ native has played in the Can-Am League since 2013 when he broke in with the Rockland Boulders, and over his five years is a career .277 hitter with nine homeruns and 135 RBI in 282 games.

Nyisztor also played 44 games in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in 2013 with the Hillsboro Hops of the Northwest League where he hit .309 with three homeruns and 23 RBI.

CHAMBERS, 30, slashed .259/.282/.379 with one homerun and five RBI in 14 games for Ottawa in 2017.

The Pensacola, FL native has a big part of Ottawa’s championship run in 2016, batting .304 in 24 games after a late season trade with the Gary SouthShore RailCats.

Chambers is a former Major Leaguer who spent parts of three seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, winning the World Series with them in 2011.
