OTTAWA – Hot dogs, fireworks, and all kinds of other fun activities headline the first promotion calendar in Ottawa Champions team history.

The Champions announce four different recurring events along with a calendar of individual promotions sprinkled into the 2018 schedule.

Dollar hot dog nights, baseball bingo, and Gabriel Pizza weekends return from last season. Saturday night fireworks will also be back on five different occasions this year, while beer partner Molson Coors will present $5 Coors Light beers on every single Friday night Champions home game.

For individual events, the Champions hit the ground running with a packed schedule on the season’s first weekend.

The season’s opening homestand is on one of three holiday weekends where the Champions play multiple home games, as the team opens the season on Victoria Day weekend with three separate landmark dates on the calendar.

Opening day festivities will be on May 18 of the Victoria Day weekend, with Ottawa mayor Jim Watson helping to kick off the new campaign by throwing out the first pitch of the season.

Ontario youth baseball night and superhero day will also be part of opening weekend promotions.

And on May 20, the Champions will honour a tireless advocate of the Ottawa baseball scene. The team is proud to welcome David Gourlay, the organization’s inaugural president, back to thank fans in a day dedicated to his service.

Additional landmark dates on the promotion calendar include a return of the popular bark in the park – where fans can bring their furry friends to watch the Champions – on June 10.

For the fourth straight season, the Champions play at home on Canada Day – widely considered one of the biggest days of the year in the nation’s capital. The team is prepping for yet another grand celebration of our country’s birthday on July 1.
