Guglietti's three-run jack propels Champions past Aigles

The homer came in the top of the fourth inning, and Ottawa never gave up the lead.

OTTAWA – A three-run home run from INF Vinny Guglietti gave the Ottawa Champions a lead they never relinquished.

They took a tight 4-3 win over the Trois-Rivieres Aigles in the third game of the series in Quebec, scoring the first four runs of the game and never looking back until the ninth inning.

Down 4-0 going into the ninth, a late three-run home run from Aigles OF Michael Suchy gave Trois-Rivieres some life. But Ottawa called on LHP Scott Maine, who was able to record his eighth save of the 2018 season.

Offensively, Ottawa was led by the aforementioned home run from Guglietti, but OF Chase Harris continued his impressive hit streak on his 27th birthday by going 3-for-5. He now has knocks in 15 straight contests, two back of the 17-game hit streak set by OF Matt Helms last season.

It wasn’t just Harris that continued streaks. INF Daniel Bick’s two extra base hits give him three straight games with a double. He now has six extra base hits in his last three contests.

The Champions and Aigles will wrap up their four-game weekend-long series Sunday afternoon, with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch. Tickets for all Champions home games are available at www.ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
