Champions Sweep Weekly Awards

2017 June 26

Ottawa, ON – Strong Individual performances by two OTTAWA CHAMPIONS battery mates have them taking home the top honours in the Can-Am League for the week ending June 25th.

RHP DANIEL CORDERO has been named Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week while C DANNY GRAUER has been named Pointstreak Player of the Week, the second time Champions teammates have swept the award.

CORDERO, 24, picked up a win over the Quebec Capitales in his only start of the week, allowing a single run on three hits in seven innings while striking out five and walking one

It’s Cordero’s first time receiving the weekly award, and the second award in a row for Ottawa after LHP Yean Carlos Gil took home the honours last week.

GRAUER, 24, hit .565 in seven games, with three homeruns and 11 RBI in seven games. The highlight came in Friday’s 13-9 win over the Rockland Boulders when he crushed two homeruns and drove in six runs.

Along with Kenny Bryant, Grauer is one of only two Champions to win the Pointstreak Player of the Week award, and the first to do it twice.

Cordero joins Gil, Austin Chrismon, Wilmer Font, and Drew Granier as Ottawa Champions who have received the Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week award.
