OTTAWA – The Ottawa Champions have released both INF Tyler Brown and C Zak Colby for disciplinary reasons.

Colby, a 29-year-old catcher from Hanford, Calif., joined the Champions in June after playing overseas in the winter. He batted .298 in his 40 games as a member of the club, amassing six doubles and 14 RBI.

He had previous experience in the Can-Am League, playing with the Shikoku Island All-Stars when they went through the Can-Am League as part of the international series in 2016.

Brown, a 23-year-old infielder from Henderson, Nev., was a recent signing of manager Hal Lanier. He rounded out the infield after the release of INF Steve Nyisztor due to injury. He had two hits in his four games as a Champion.

Ottawa’s coaching staff will fill out the roster with replacement signings in the coming days.

The Champions are currently on a short, two-day road trip to New Jersey. They will return home to play the Rockland Boulders on a DOLLAR HOT DOG NIGHT Thursday, August 9 at 7:05 p.m. The series has postseason implications, with the Champions currently sitting 3.5 games back of the Can-Am League’s final playoff spot.

Tickets for all Champions home games are available at www.ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
