QUEBEC CITY, QC – The Ottawa Champions used the long ball to propel themselves to a victory in Game 2 of their series against the Quebec Capitales Tuesday night.

Two solo home runs from INF Daniel Bick and OF Brian Portelli helped the Champions build their lead and hold off the offence of the Quebec Capitales.

Ottawa used the longball in the sixth, along with two more runs on a single from Portelli that scored Boucher and INF Jordan Caillouet. While the Capitales had an answer in the bottom by scoring two runs, the Champions relied on their bullpen to finish the job.

Both RHP Danny Carela and LHP Scott Maine were solid in relief, pitching with the Champions up by three runs. Carela struck out the final two batters of the eighth inning, and Maine bared down after allowing a double and recorded his 13th save of the season, moving into a tie for the league lead.

While the team has spent the last week on the road, this road trip isn’t nearly over. Ottawa continues their series against Quebec for three more days before returning home on Friday, August 24.
