Capitales take series finale 8-4 over Champions
QUEBEC CITY, QUE. – Despite early runs, the Ottawa Champions (35-50) drop the finale of their three-game road series 8-4 to the Quebec Capitales (35-50) Thursday evening at Stade CANAC.
Right-handed Capitales starter Austin Chrismon tossed six innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out five, grabbing his third win with Quebec.
The Capitales opened the scoring with a single in the bottom of the first inning, and the Champions responded with three runs in the top of the third, highlighted by a two-run double blasted up the middle by Malik Collymore.
Quebec tacked on four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, retaking the lead from the Champions 5-4.
Right-handed Champions starter Zac Westcott pitched six innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on ten hits, while striking out four, and took his fifth loss of the season.
Righty Kyle Chavez relieved Westcott in the bottom of the seventh, allowing two earned runs on three hits and one walk, while left-handed reliever Matt Valin took over in the bottom of the eighth, pitching a scoreless inning and striking out two.
Collymore went 3-for-4 with a run scored, hitting his 29thRBI of 2019. Larry Balkwill went 2-for-2, recording a run scored and his ninth RBI of the season.
Ottawa will look to open its final road series with a win tomorrow evening against the New Jersey Jackals. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
