Champions at the Pan-Ams: Steve Brown goes 0-for-4, Canada beats Cuba 8-6
OTTAWA - After going 2-for-4 and scoring a run on Monday, Steve Brown was unable to replicate the same success on Tuesday, going 0-for-4 and striking out twice. He did get on base in the form of a walk, however.
His Team Colombia still came away with the win, defeating Argentina 4-2. Sneider Batista went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Derwin Pomare went 2-for-3 with a walk. Pomare also had an RBI.
Colombia improved to 2-0 with the victory.
For Team Canada, neither Phillippe Aumont nor Evan Rutckyj appeared in the game against Cuba, but the Canadians came out with the win, beating Team Cuba 8-6.
Connor Panas came close to hitting for the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a single, a double and a home run, and he had five RBI with a walk.
Wesley Darvill also went 3-for-4 for Canada with two singles and three runs scored.
Canada and Colombia face each other Thursday, August 1 at 11 a.m. EST. The last time these two teams faced each other in the Pan-Am Games, Aumont and Rutckyj's team Canada beat Brown and the Colombians 10-3 in preliminary action.
