Champions at the Pan-Ams: Canada wins silver, Colombia loses in bronze medal game
Lima, Peru - Canada's streak of dominance at the Pan-Am Games has come to an end.
After two straight gold medals in Toronto in 2015 and Guadalajara in 2011, Canada was finally defeated, losing by a score of 6-1 at the hands of Team Puerto Rico.
Ottawa Champions pitcher Evan Rutckyj struck out two in 1 1/3 innings pitched, allowing two unearned runs and two hits with no walks.
Steve Brown's Team Colombia didn't fare as well at the games. Heading into the super round with a 2-1 record, Colombia dominated Nicaragua 10-1 but lost to Puerto Rico 2-1 the next day to eliminate their chance at playing for gold.
Colombia was then blanked 6-0 by Nicaragua in the bronze medal game to give them a fourth-place finish.
Rutckyj, Brown and Phillippe Aumont are expected to re-join the Champions later this week.
