All Hale: Ottawa starter dazzles in shutout win over Trois-Rivieres
Jake Hale tossed seven scoreless innings in his sixth win of the season.
OTTAWA – Solid starting pitching along with convincing offensive performances formed the recipe of 7-0 victory for the Ottawa Champions in Thursday night’s series opener at Stade Stereo+.
RHP Jake Hale recorded another convincing win, limiting the Trois-Rivieres Aigles to just four hits in seven shutout innings. He struck out seven Aigles batters en route to the win. He now holds a record of 6-4.
Offensively, the top of the order led the way for Ottawa. Both OF Chase Harris and INF Daniel Bick had multi-hit evenings. Bick’s 4-for-5 line included two doubles and an RBI, while Harris had three knocks and scored three runs from his position in the leadoff role.
Ottawa’s runs were equally scattered across the game. The maximum amount of runs they mustered in an inning was two – in both the first and eighth innings. Their go-ahead runs in the first came off a two-run single that OF Steve Brown blooped into right field, to score Harris and Bick.
The Champions and Aigles will resume their four-game weekend-long series Friday night, with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. Ottawa will send RHP Steve Borkowski to the mound.
